37. We're going to start off at the very top with Pedro Chavez. He's got five tools.
38. He has five useful tools that you can use. One of them that stood out to me was the ICE locator.
39. If someone has been detained, you can find your family member through there with data that you might have.
40. We've got five tools. This information might be useful for you or somebody that you know.
41. Here is our immigration attorney right here, Pedro Chavez.

43. Each week, I share insights, guidance, and real-world strategies to help you navigate the immigration process with confidence.
44. Whether you're seeking clarity on visas, residency, or citizenship, I'm here to empower you with knowledge and keep you informed.
45. So with that said, let's jump right into it.
46. Here are five immigration tools that every undocumented person should know about.
47. Number one is the EOIR case checker.
48. You can use the online platform or you can call the 1 number All you need is a person A number which is a nine digit number that starts with the letter A Exclude the A when you type it in If you using the online platform you also need the country of origin of the person
49. Or if you're using 1-800 number, you don't need the country of origin. And it's very useful because
50. it will let you know if you have court, when your next court hearing date is, and sometimes what the
51. decision was in the case. So if you got a removal order when you were like a baby, like a lot of
52. Docker recipients, it might show up there and say ordered removed. And that way you'll know that you
53. have a removal order prior to any future applications. It's a very useful tool. Number two,
54. the ICE locator. So the ICE locator is kind of tricky because you need the right spelling of
55. the person's name. And sometimes ICE accidentally puts the wrong spelling into the system. And you
56. also might need the country, the person's date of birth, if you don't have the alien number.
57. And sometimes ICE sometimes puts a day, month, as opposed to month, year. And that's another way
58. that you can get stuck in the system.
59. And I should mention what it actually does.
60. It actually helps you find the person
61. if they are placed in a detention facility.
62. So if your loved one has been detained,
63. go to the ICE locator to find out where they are.
64. Now, it doesn't update automatically.
65. It might take a few days for somebody to show up in the system.
66. But once they're there, that's how you find them.
67. Number three, the USCIS case status checker.
68. So once you've submitted an application to USCIS,
69. you'll eventually get a receipt notice.
70. And that receipt notice will have a receipt number.
71. You type the entire thing, no spaces, into the system online and you'll know what the current case posture is for your application, whether it's been received, whether an interview has been scheduled, whether they're already sending your work authorization card, multiple things.
72. It's a way for you to keep on track of your case.
73. Number four, the EYR pro bono list.
74. So this is maintained by the immigration courts.
75. It's a PDF that has free legal service providers in your area.
76. They have to, by law, maintain it and give it to you if you're in court proceedings.
77. But you can use it for all sorts of things because a lot of these legal service providers not just do court representation, but they also do low cost legal services.
78. So it's a good starting point. You can find where you are and contact those nonprofits to see if they will take on your case.
79. Finally, number five is the USCIS processing time tool.
80. So the processing time tool, you just type in the form or you plug in the form.
81. It's actually a drop down menu of the form that you submitted and then the area where you submitted it to.
82. It'll be on your receipt notice. And then you can just try to calculate how long until they approve it or deny it and whether or not your application has fallen outside of normal processing times.
83. They'll show you there that this takes four months, this takes eight months.
84. If your application has already been pending longer than that period, that lets you know that you can start the USCIS inquiry process where you can start contacting Congress to get the case moving.

115. President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday that it might take several days to decide
116. whether to launch another strike on Iran, but declined a specific timeline.
117. I had made the decision.
118. So they called up, they had heard I made the decision.
119. They said, sir, could you give us a couple of more days?
120. Because we think they're being reasonable.
121. Well, I mean, I'm saying two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something,
122. maybe early next week, a limited period of time.
123. Because we can't let them have a nuclear weapon.
124. The president also said the United States is now negotiating with Iranian negotiators.
125. Iran said it's prepared for either outcome, peace or continued conflict.
126. Meanwhile, Israel has pushed for the war to resume while several Gulf Arab countries are in opposition.
127. This week, the president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a tense and contentious call
128. A person familiar with the situation said Netanyahu rallied against a proposed deal to end the war.
129. Iran says that it favors diplomacy, but its military commanders are threatening to escalate the conflict if Iran is attacked again.
130. Iran's continued control of the Strait of Hormuz is its most important leverage now.
131. republicans in congress are racing to approve 72 billion dollar in funding for immigration
132. and customs enforcement and customs and border patrol through the rest of president trump's term
133. it's a choice before this trump administration and republicans what are you going to spend the
134. american people's money on are you actually going to spend it on the american people or are you
135. going to push an extreme agenda. They want to put tens of billions of dollars to fully, you know,
136. to even further fund ICE, which is already funded up to the T. I will be and others will be
137. introducing amendments that say, let's not take this money and fund a lawless, unaccountable
138. immigration enforcement operation that still has not come to terms with the fact that they killed American citizens The GOP is using a tool known as a budget reconciliation to bypass Democrats
139. who oppose more agency funding without reforms that limit officers' tactics.
140. Trump is unhappy with the package because it doesn't include funding for the White House
141. ballroom. Several Republicans, including Louisiana Sen Bill Cassidy, said they would oppose the
142. budget if it included ballroom funding. The Trump administration has intensified pressure on Cuba
143. since the successful U.S. military operation that captured Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro.
144. The administration has since ordered a blockade of Cuba, cutting off fuel shipments to the island
145. and plunging the country's economy into free fall.
146. We have big news on Cuba.
147. As you know, with the indictment of Castro,
148. I think it was a very big moment for people that, not only Cuban-Americans,
149. but people that came from Cuba, that want to go back to Cuba,
150. people that want to see their family in Cuba.
151. I think it was a very big day, a very important day.
152. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel posted on X that the indictment was a politically motivated act
153. without legal basis.
154. Diaz-Canel also accused the U.S. of fabricating details
155. to justify military action against Cuba.
156. Gusty winds and hot, dry weather are fueling the explosive growth
157. of California wildfires this week,
158. causing thousands to flee their homes and residents to mosque up
159. due to poor air quality.
160. Evacuations remain in place for fires burning in Ventura and Riverside counties.
161. The Sandy Fire in Simi Valley is burning near the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, a former nuclear reactor site, raising air quality concerns.
162. The Sandy Fire started on May 18 in Simi Valley, California, and has grown to more than 2,215 acres as of May 21.
163. Latest numbers, we're at 1,698 acres. We are up to 15% containment.
164. We have 869 firefighters from agencies all across California here supporting Ventura County firefighters.
165. We have over 43,000 residents under evacuation order.
166. This is still a very active fire and we are working hard to bring it under control.
167. The fire is 30% age contained.
168. In other California news, beginning June 1st, new federal guidelines take effect under the Big Beautiful Bill
169. mandating that CalFresh recipients work at least 20 hours a week to retain full food benefits.
170. California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order on Thursday
171. to explore labor policies in an attempt to front-run a potential mass job displacement
172. caused by artificial intelligence.
173. Now it's the blue collar worker that sounds a lot like 25 year old white collar workers that I see in San Francisco that are wondering why they're not getting a call back on a job interview.
174. They're sounding the same. That's a different kind of coalition, the white collar and blue collar coalition.
175. But now there's a growing, I think, consciousness that we need to, yes, accelerate vis-a-vis China.
176. I get all that. But you've got to steer the technology.
177. Governor Newsom signed the order mandating state agencies to work with academics, labor groups, and the AI industry to study how to subsidize companies that keep employees working.
178. rather than replace them with technology.
179. The order calls for an expansion of job training programs,
180. particularly for white-collar workers like customer service representatives,
181. software developers, and marketing and salespeople
182. whose roles are expected to be eliminated by AI.
183. The AAA said from now until Memorial Day on Monday,
184. about 45 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home. The record number of travelers
185. AAA forecast is only a 0.04% increase from last year's forecast. However, the rising cost of gas
186. price and jet fuel are forcing some travelers to pump the brakes on festivities. We are paying
187. $1.26 higher than a year ago. For many people, driving is still more affordable. It's still
188. more flexible than flying. They are maybe cutting costs by staying with friends or family. Maybe
189. they're choosing more affordable hotels or spending less on dining out. But travel is
190. definitely a priority and people are just finding ways to make it work.
191. It's now time for your weekly weird news headline of the week. Now listen to this. Someone paid more
192. than nine million dollars to have lunch with basketball player Stephen Curry and Warren Buffett
193. as part of an auction promising to match the winning bid so both their favorite charities
194. will benefit nine million dollars that's incredible the auction on eBay was intended
195. to revive an event that Buffett hosted for more than two decades that raised 53 million dollars
196. for the Glide Foundation homeless charity in San Francisco.
197. This year's auction that wrapped up Thursday night
198. also raised funds for Curry's Eat Learn Play Foundation
199. that he established with his wife Aisha.

232. And it was a negative story. And the very next day he gets a phone call and says, oh, your Trump phone is on the way.
233. And now some of the Trump phones have been delivered, but they are saying that they are another model.
234. They are an HTC model telephone.
235. So once again, Trump fails at what he is doing.
236. The orange Cheeto, Cheeto-lini, and of course, big in the news is the stealing of 1.776, that's not by coincidence, 1776, trillion dollars to create a slush fund for Donald Trump and the rioters on January 6th.
237. among other things. So Joanna, we have to stay vigilant and informed with the news,

260. it's the changing of the guard and honestly maybe even the changing of the map
261. For decades when we talked about the best basketball players in the world, it almost automatically meant American superstars.
262. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Steph Curry.
263. The NBA was America's game, and everybody else was just chasing it.
264. But now, the rest of the world has caught up, and in some ways, they may have even taken over.
265. For example, let's look at these playoffs right now.
266. You've got Shea Gilgis Alexander leading the Oklahoma City Thunder on another deep playoff run,
267. while winning back-to-back NBA MVP awards.
268. He's from Canada, and his game is unreal.
269. Smooth, efficient, calm under pressure.
270. he's not flashy in the traditional sense but he controls the game like a surgeon
271. every possession feels calculated with him then on the other side you've got victor wimby miyama
272. the san antonio spurs and honestly we may be watching the beginning of something historic
273. This dude is 7'4", moves like a guard, blocks everything, shoots threes, handles the rock,
274. and just dropped 41-24 in the Western Conference Finals against OKC in Game 1.
275. What's wild is this isn't even surprising anymore.
276. You see, international players aren't role players now.
277. They aren't good for overseas talent.
278. They are the faces of the NBA.
279. Look at the MVP race over the last several years.
280. Nikola Jokic from Serbia, Giannis from Greece, Luka Doncic from Slovenia, and now Shea from Canada and Wemby from France.
281. The NBA has officially become a global league.
282. And the part that matters the most, these international stars no longer play with fear

364. where we get to explore the middle of polarizing issues.
365. Are our streets safer with more LAPD or less LAPD officers?
366. We're going to explore that and we have a real special guest in the house tonight.
367. He is the councilman of District 12.
368. He is the chair of the City Council's Public Safety Committee, who has a focus on neighborhood safety and homelessness,
369. and is a longtime resident of the Valley and a former business owner.
370. folks at home please welcome council member john lee welcome to the show well thank you erin thanks
371. for having me i appreciate it we always strive on this program to come to the center of issues i
372. think that everybody no matter what your opinion should be able to come to the table and have these
373. conversations and it's okay to disagree in your household it's okay to disagree on the streets
374. just don't don't like duke it out yeah you know unfortunately i think that because politics have
375. becomes so polarized. You're either like, I'm on this team. And if you're on that team, well,
376. then I hate you. And that's not how it used to be. You know, we need to be able to compromise.
377. We need to be able to work together. It's just unfortunate that so many people don't take the
378. time to listen. There are cultural differences. There are generational differences. You know,
379. use certain moments as teachable moments rather than attack that person because you don't create
380. an ally by attacking a person. You create an ally by trying to explain to them why you feel a
381. certain way right and if you disagree you disagree i mean yeah you know we disagree a lot on different
382. political issues but obviously you know you've been married a while i've been and i plan to be
383. married to her for the rest of my life because we can be able to talk about it we can be able to
384. disagree we need to listen more to each other unfortunately it's driven the parties to go
385. and why i consider myself an independent it's driven our you know left to go extreme left and
386. our right to go extreme right and there's a space there in the middle that a lot of us are like yeah
387. i agree with you over here on right i agree over here over here on this on left and i just don't
388. understand why we can't work more together i hope that becomes the future of our country
389. la police department so the police in the country has had a lot of mixed press and
390. where we find that all of this stuff has become politicized.
391. It's not just public safety versus something else.
392. It's like, well, I'm a Democrat, so we should defund the police.
393. I'm a Republican, I should fund the police.
394. I can see the benefits of, well, having a police department.
395. I can also see the benefit of not having to walk on eggshells
396. when I want to simply go to the grocery store, get my newspaper,
397. or take a walk with my dogs.
398. My own parents have some different views on it So I thought maybe you could expand on the LA Police Department Correct me if I wrong I think billion of our budget is going to the police department Yes Tell us a little bit about that It approximately that but it a big part of our budget every year
399. because it's an important part. Like you mentioned, there was a big defunding movement in the past.
400. That unfortunately, we have not recovered from that. I think a lot of police officers felt
401. not supported when that started happening. We started seeing people leaving the LAPD.
402. We are down a significant number of officers.
403. The amount of officers down in the city sort of translates to maybe 50 officers in Devonshire, one of my main division.
404. That's an entire shift.
405. And so, you know, we have to do with our discretionary funds and different funds that we try to raise to make sure that our neighborhoods still have, you know, patrols going on.
406. I'm very proud that we're not only the safest district in the city of Los Angeles, but I believe last year, even though we were the safest, we had the largest decrease in crime.
407. We've had to turn to some technology in our district to help the officers do their jobs and to keep the people safe here.
408. What do you think is the cause of the decline of the police department?
409. Is it just defund police?
410. have funds been moved to, say, the homelessness problem, which is a consistent thing.
411. My father wants to blame our mayor, but everybody wants to blame somebody.
412. What's contributing to the lack of the smaller police force?
413. We do spend a lot of money on the homeless programs throughout the city of Los Angeles.
414. Some work, some unfortunately don't.
415. I'm no stranger to be critical about how we are spending those tax dollars.
416. But, you know, when it comes to the police department, I think that, again, a lot of the officers, like you said, in the papers, whether it's, you know, they don't feel supported.
417. They're putting on a uniform and a badge every day to go protect our city.
418. Are there bad apples out there?
419. Absolutely.
420. And no one hates a bad cop more than a good cop.
421. It brings them down.
422. ICE is under fire a lot.
423. How do you see that center marriage between having safe streets, but people not feeling
424. afraid to go to Home Depot, as an example?
425. In our district, I was talking about technology.
426. And that was something that we had to sort of talk to our constituents about to make
427. sure that they understood.
428. Well, we're putting license plate readers all throughout the district and being the
429. only district that has those so that any car that comes in our district that has a stolen
430. car, stolen license plate, child abduction, warrant for your arrest, my police cars are
431. immediately notified that that car is in our area. That was something that we had to work with our
432. constituency to make them comfortable with that. And there's other technology we're going to be
433. looking at. We have to make sure that our residents feel safe when they go out and walk
434. on their streets. Let me ask you, what do you think is the line with that? And I'll use two
435. examples. I would like to feel safe going out on my streets. I'll just start with that. So I got
436. an HP printer and they have this HP plus program and I'm probably going to return it. And I'm going
437. to return it because I didn't want to pay for their subscriber service. And through the internet,
438. they turned off my printer. So my printer wouldn't work. I'm in production, right? So I had to go
439. back and I just like quickly was like, okay, I'll pay extra for the subscription, but I'm going to
440. return you to Costco. This is an example of like AI to the extreme, right? Or we're going to get
441. cameras in our cars that are going to shut down if we're inebriated, which is good. I would not
442. like people to be driving drunk. However, it feels a little bit like big brother.
443. I understand people's concerns when it comes to issues like that.
444. But again, you know, I've always believed that as a council member of this district,
445. that my number one thing is safety.
446. But also, I know people's privacy is a great concern.
447. There are different safeguards that we make sure that we put in place so that I can just look up hey how many times is Aaron Jacobs going to the supermarket You know there are several different steps
448. that you have to take before you are able to access any sort of film
449. so that there's no abuse of this technology.
450. So that is something that is very important to me.
451. I know it's important to the people to make sure, like you said,
452. you know, that big brother, you know, watching over us.
453. Yeah.
454. That's not our intention.
455. Will an increase in our police force make us safer?
456. In our district, we said that we've had less cops and our crime rate went down.
457. But at what cost then?
458. Cameras watching our license plates and how we're driving from the inside of our car.
459. What is next?
460. Shutting down the car if we don't look right?
461. What does look right?
462. On another side, is defunding the police the answer?
463. Or should we be extending their officer trainings like in Sweden to two and a half to three years where they gain real de-escalating and sensitivity training?
464. How do we create a bridge between the people trusting the police and also the police being able to trust the people they represent?
465. If cops are closer to their constituents, will they still be able to be impartial judges?
466. Perhaps the first step to safer streets is to scale back from the reactionary disciplining
467. and head towards simply, as our councilman said earlier, listening to the person across from you.
468. You don't have to agree, but you can listen and try to understand the opposite side.
469. I imagine our opinions are closer aligned on most issues than we think.
470. And yet, we also don't want to find ourselves in a complete lawless society.

515. do not play vampire crawlers because it is too much fun it is too good of a game to play you
516. will become the most unproductive person on the planet take this for me somebody who has played
517. the game extensively it's a game that i didn't get to talk about when it launched and now i get to
518. talk about it uh let this be a warning to you because this game is fantastic it is one of the
519. funnest pc games i've played in a while and it is also dangerously addictive so let's get into it
520. vampire crawlers it it's another game in the vampire survivors series now what is vampire
521. survivors it is another game that is hideously addictive and will also make you an unproductive
522. person it is essentially a uh bullet uh hell ish kind of game uh but kind of in reverse where you
523. are the bullet hell of sorts you dispatch swarms of enemies and the ultimate goal is to just survive
524. until the end that is vampire survivors uh you get different characters to play as they have
525. different abilities you have different items that you can pick up and use to help you survive
526. the vampires and there are many levels there have been various updates and upgrades to the game and
527. just various bits of downloadable content that are available and more than anything vampire
528. survivors is a very cheap game but we're not talking about vampire survivors tonight we're
529. talking about its successor vampire crawlers a game that i deeply respect and appreciate
530. for transcending vampire survivors and creating something entirely different.
531. Vampire Crawlers is a card-based dungeon crawling video game.
532. So it takes elements from vampire survivors, the characters, the power-ups,
533. all of those things, and makes this a fun dungeon crawling video game.
534. There's no story to think of. This is pure video game.
535. It has a lot of cool lore, interesting, funny lore for each of the characters.
536. there's a lot of good flavor text but ultimately it's just a video game where you are playing the
537. video game and i strongly recommend it or not if you want to be a productive human being
538. vampire crawlers is played in first person uh and you are basically roaming around dungeons
539. fighting enemies dispatching them and getting to the next floor there are various levels i still
540. haven't seen every level in the game because the game does get pretty difficult at certain points
541. it is a game that i will say has enough
542. depth that will permit you to just play it endlessly the combination of characters power-ups
543. and levels of course make this game such a joy to play it takes everything that was great about
544. vampire survivors and makes it into this brand new thing i honestly cannot speak its praises
545. enough vampire crawlers is such a fun game it's so good it's so horrendously addicting like i
546. literally at launch played it for hours and hours and hours and i still haven't seen everything
547. i played the heck out of the demo that was made available at steam fest this year and honestly it
548. was so much fun that i couldn't put it down so when they announced uh the actual release date
549. of the game. I was all over it. I bought it at launch. What you can look forward to if you do
550. decide to take the plunge and play this game is hours of fun. It's a very straightforward game.
551. I would say if you are not into card deck building games, you might get bored, honestly,
552. but I just think it's so much fun, and I'm someone who doesn't really play card-based games in real
553. life or in video game form. The only card game that I've played in a video game has been Slay
554. Aspire and that game is also really fun. I think the best card games you can play honestly in video
555. game form are the ones that are very easy to understand and Vampire Crawlers for me is one
556. of those games. It's very easy to understand. It's very simple. You figure it out pretty quickly. I
557. think it tutorializes you pretty well and you get a pretty good selection of power-ups and characters
558. to use right off the bat and many more to unlock and Vampire Survivors itself got a lot of love and
559. support so we can expect the same probably for vampire crawlers but if you really want to check
560. it out if you're really curious and you're fine with just being gung-ho and maybe spending too
561. much time on video games vampire crawlers is on steam it's a fantastic game it's very cheap and
562. i would say it's worth checking out in that case so after this i'm gonna probably go play some
