16. Well, let's start with a reality check, shall we?
17. Let's start by putting everything exactly where it belongs and framing it exactly the way it needs to be framed.
18. I'm going to become a Southern Baptist preacher for you, just to bring us all up to speed on exactly where we are today.
19. And then we will switch. We will open up the phones.
20. But first, friends, this is a sad time for true Christians everywhere.
21. Just when we were convinced the end times are finally upon us,
22. God, in his infinite wisdom and wrath,
23. has once again signaled that we will have to wait even longer for the day
24. when we can join him and his son in heaven's crystal palace.
25. This is truly a sad time indeed.
26. The deep state is clearly a tool of the devil,
27. and Satan has won yet again.
28. Our confidence that the rapture was right around the corner
29. arose when God's own party, GOP,
30. dominated, dominated the last elections,
31. And despite the fact that heathen Kamala Harris won nearly as many votes nationwide as our golden-haired prophet,
32. God made sure Mr. Trump was elected.
33. He started by ensuring that the colored folks and the boat people in the swing states
34. who care only about pronouns and free insulin were sufficiently confused by the ballot process.
35. When that wasn't enough, he intervened further and had the Electoral College do exactly what the founders intended, deliver us from competence.
36. And even though God had a momentary lapse and let the Senate threaten us with women in pantsuits, he ensured that any resistance would crumble by giving us Vice President J.D. Vance.
37. A man whose ideological journey from Yale-educated critic to golden retriever is more miraculous than the loaves and the fishes.
38. We understandably believed God put our Republicans in command because he wanted the end times to begin.
39. And our godly Republicans increased our confidence by immediately setting about to make the book of revelation come true mostly through press conferences From the Apostle John we know the end times will occur
40. when the earth will be plagued with fires, earthquakes, plagues, the destruction of plant,
41. animal and human life and the dominance of creatures like locusts and other destructive
42. bugs. Those do-gooder Democrats want to take our money and tax our corporations so they can make
43. the environment fit for future generations when us true Christians and Republicans know there
44. aren't going to be many future generations to come. Why waste money on a pipe dream of a clean
45. world when the rapture's on the calendar. The rapture! Godly Republicans sought to let us enjoy
46. every second of what little time we have left by pushing to slash taxes for those with enough
47. money to notice it, slapping tariffs on everything including the air we breathe, and running the
48. deficit up to numbers so large they've transcended mathematics and entered theology.

51. Not only did Republicans seek to make our immediate lives better, but they did so with an eye to facilitating the biblically prescribed rapture.
52. What better way to ensure we enjoy these last few years than by mandating more use of oil, more use of coal, more use of natural gas and diesel, cheap energy, God's energy, in place of squandering our treasure on wind farms and solar panels,
53. the benefits of which wouldn't be realized until after the planet is long gone away.
54. And what better way to facilitate the apocalypse described in Revelation
55. than by gutting the EPA so thoroughly that those giant horse-like locusts
56. with lion's teeth and scorpion's tails that God has promised
57. will practically build themselves.
58. That's Revelation 9, 7 to 10.
59. What better way to get rid of the excess animals
60. so that only billionaires and scavenger birds remain?
61. That's Revelation 19, 7 to 18.
62. What better way than to open wildlife sanctuaries to development
63. and rename them opportunity zones?
64. Indeed, we Republicans know the truth.
65. Rather than trying to save this planet, we should face and facilitate the inevitable.
66. Defund every one who suggests otherwise.
67. Spark conflicts in the Middle East and let those folks sort it out with whatever ordinance we sold them last quarter.
68. withdraw from every multinational multilateral agreement so that each nation may pursue its own
69. personal apocalypse on its own personal timeline the bottom line is this God time not the time for fact checkers or the World Health Organization
70. But you know, friends, something went wrong.
71. The polls turned.
72. The approval ratings cratered.
73. The man who was supposed to usher in revelation started feuding with Canadian trade ministers
74. and posting at 2 a.m. about crowd sizes.
75. The chosen vessel began to seem less like a prophet and more like a man who has lost
76. the thread entirely.
77. A man deep in the wilderness, not of spiritual trial, but of his own grievance loop, unable
78. to find the plot he wandered away from three press conferences ago.
79. True Christians everywhere had better unpack their bags and clean their weapons,
80. for it looks as though the world is going to be here a while longer,
81. and our champion may have misplaced both the script and his reading glasses.

129. back to the seriousness of it all oh my god this next one is going to light the lines this is the
130. call-in segment, and I want to hear what you think of it. We're going to talk about Alex Karp,
131. Karp with a K, as opposed to Karp with a C, like the ugly, slimy, gray fish. But Karp with a K,
132. he's the CEO of Palantir Technologies. Remember? The largest government surveillance software
133. humankind has ever known. And it is active right now. This government has installed it. Why?
134. Because this government is all technocrats. And that's the plot of the play. To reduce live humans
135. in this entire hemisphere from Greenland. What a coincidence. All the way down to the South Pole
136. and have a technocracy. So Mr. Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies, the largest government
137. surveillance software humankind has ever known, which is Skynet, if you remember Terminator,
138. it's growing. We talked about this guy before, a ponytailed philosopher warrior, a neurodivergent
139. ubermensch in a tailored blazer who speaks in complete sentences that sound like they were
140. translated from the original Nietzsche by a malfunctioning jet GPT running on jet fuel and grievance.
141. He's a man who looks exactly like what would happen if a mad scientist crossed Ernest Borgnine with a pigeon,
142. then gave it a $350 billion market cap and told it to fix democracy from the outside.
143. Alex Karp wants your children to go to war.
144. He's very passionate about this.
145. He's published a whole book about it.
146. It's called The Technological Republic,
147. which is the kind of title that tells you immediately
148. this guy's never had to parallel park he's never had to do his own laundry he's never had to
149. explain to a draft board why his knees don't work or why he might have um uh
150. what do we want to say uh bone spurs
151. okay it's not funny bing boom he and his co-author slapped together a 22 point manifesto
152. dropped it on x formerly known as twitter we always have to say that don't we x formerly
153. known as twitter because x just doesn't seem to i mean what a bad brand it just means nothing
154. unless you say formerly known as Twitter, dropped it just not even a week ago, like a flaming bag
155. of dog poop on the nation's doorstep. And among those 22 radiant points of visionary insight
156. was a crystal clear call, universal national service, a draft, the whole deal. Everyone goes,
157. Everyone, everyone shares the risk. Everyone that is, except Palantir Technologies, which paid exactly zero dollars, none, zip, goose egg, the big donut, not a thin dime in federal income taxes in 2025.
158. despite reporting a cool $1.5 billion in U.S. income.
159. They paid zero.
160. How did they do that?
161. Well, you need to write this down in your Post-it note and use it yourself.
162. They used a provision in something actually, genuinely, sincerely called
163. the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
164. Imagine grown-ups actually calling something like that 10 years ago.
165. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which sounds like the title of a Schoolhouse Rock episode
166. written by a defense contractor, there is something in there, a loophole, that allows
167. them to deduct their research expenses down to approximately nothing.
168. Bing, boom.
169. So your kids can share in the risk and the cost, and Palantir will share in the profits.
170. That's the deal.
171. That's the manifesto. Now, does this seem fair to you? Because Alex Karp has a ponytail and a
172. philosophy degree, and he thinks it's extremely fair. Now, let's just pause here and acknowledge
173. the sheer, almost supernatural audacity of all of this. Because what we're witnessing
174. is a $350 billion company,
175. which holds a $10 billion contract
176. with the U.S. Army, by the way.
177. Meaning it's basically got the Pentagon on a retainer,
178. like a very well-armed family lawyer,
179. publicly agitating for a military draft
180. while simultaneously not paying the taxes
181. that would, you know, fund said military.
182. That's like a fire hose manufacturer
183. burning your house down
184. and then selling you the hose on credit.
185. That's not a business model.
186. That's a hostage situation with better branding.
187. And it gets better because it doesn't stop there.
188. Palantir's platforms also power something called
189. Project Maven which is the Pentagon AI targeting and surveillance program And Project Maven has reportedly been used to help generate targeting lists for the Israeli military in Gaza
190. So when Mr. Karp told an earnings call that Palantir's mission was to, let me quote here,
191. scare enemies and on occasion kill them, he wasn't doing a bit.
192. This wasn't a zinger.
193. He wasn't worshiping material from the Aspen Ideas Festival open mic.
194. He meant it like a business objective, delivered with all the casual serenity of a man ordering a medium drip coffee and a side of geopolitical consequence.
195. So this brings us to the absolutely exquisite timing of all of this.
196. And this is where I want to hear from you.
197. Palantir dropped their little draft manifesto during week seven of U.S. military involvement in Iran.
198. Week seven.
199. The Selective Service, meanwhile, is already moving toward automatic registration of all eligible men ages 18 to 26.
200. Set to kick in December 18th of this year.
201. Excuse me.
202. Why, look, pollen in the air. It's hard to be a live human, isn't it? December 18th,
203. 2026. That means the government's literally building the intake funnel right now,
204. while Palantir simultaneously is standing outside the funnel with a megaphone yelling,
205. fill her up. The infrastructure for mass conscription is assembling itself like a
206. transformer that nobody asked for. And the company with the AI targeting contracts is cheerleading
207. from the sideline tax-free. You know, there used to be, I don't know, corruption. You at least
208. would hide it a little or, I don't know. You know, this is just, I mean, why not just hand
209. a velvet bag full of diamonds to a senator just right in a restaurant. I mean, why not? It is.
210. Or hand an airplane, a giant 747 to the president. Okay. Well, anyway, Thomas Jefferson,
211. Tommy to his friends. You might remember him, a tall fellow, wrote some stuff, complicated legacy,
212. played the violin, wrote some stuff. We won't get into it. But Tommy Jefferson warned in 1777
213. that a military draft would be the most unpopular and impracticable, I think that was the word he
214. used, impracticable thing that could be attempted. He said the colonists considered conscription,
215. and I love this phrase, the last of all oppressions. Because what did the king do?
216. You were property of the crown and they just scooped you up and sent you off somewhere to go fight the King's War, conquesting.
217. It was the last of all oppressions.
218. In fact, the Royal Navy's habit of press ganging American sailors was so enraging, it made it into the Declaration of Independence itself.
219. One of the actual 27 grievances against King George III that justified the whole revolution.
220. The founding document of the country that you and I are currently living in contains a specific complaint about forced military service It right there You can look it up It not in the fine print And here comes Palantir in the year of our Lord
221. 2026 going, you know what, Jefferson, you big baby, we've thought about it. And we think
222. universal national service is actually a great idea. Everyone should share in the risk.
223. And then they go back to not sharing in the tax burden.
224. There's a word for this.
225. Several words, actually.
226. Most of them aren't suitable for public radio before 10 p.m.
227. What could possibly go wrong, I'm asking you?
228. Let's think about this carefully.
229. You've got a company whose revenue is more than half dependent on government contracts, i.e. taxpayer money.
230. Yeah, that's you, Mildred.
231. Uh-huh. Advocating for the expansion of the military's manpower precisely at the moment its own AI targeting products need more wars to justify their Wall Street existence.
232. okay i waited a couple of beats so you could soak it up so you've got automatic draft registration
233. about to sweep up every 18 to 26 year old male in the country like a a rumba of civic obligation
234. right as we're in week seven of a shooting war in iran and the strait of hormuz is reportedly
235. looking like a combat zone wasn't a couple of weeks ago is now you've got a ceo who went on
236. an earnings call and described killing people as a mission statement, and who now wants your son
237. in uniform, your tax dollars funding the operation, and Palantir's algorithm deciding who's a target.
238. And Palantir, for its part, didn't respond to Fortune magazine's request for comment.
239. Of course they didn't. What are they going to say? Yes, we like your children, and no, we're not
240. paying for them. And also our software may or may not be involved in deciding who gets blown up.
241. And we've written a book about it that you can purchase on Amazon.
242. They don't respond to comment requests. They issue manifestos. You see, there's a difference.
243. And that difference is what happens when you've got 10 billion in army contracts and zero
244. federal taxes and a guy with a ponytail who's read too much Carl Schmitt and not enough Thoreau.
245. Carl Schmitt was that famous World War II lawyer, German chairman lawyer, who made everything legal.
246. Thoreau didn't. Sat around Walden Pond, was the inventor of nonviolent resistance.
247. I mean, who are his students? Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, many of you.
248. Now, I know what some of you are thinking. You're thinking, Kerry, isn't there something slightly, faintly, almost imperceptibly hypocritical about Silicon Valley tech bros, the same guys who made their fortunes from open source code, from DARPA funded Internet infrastructure and publicly subsidized university research, now talking about a moral debt owed by Silicon Valley to the military?
249. Yes that what they saying Silicon Valley we have a moral debt to the military So yes there is Karp even put that in the manifesto He literally acknowledged that Silicon Valley owes a moral debt and therefore we should remilitarize and they will
250. help. They're going to pay off that debt. He self-owns in the document, which is also the
251. sales pitch for this. It's like a tobacco company publishing a pamphlet titled,
252. yes, we've been killing you. Here's how to buy more cigarettes.
253. The audacity is so total, so complete, so crystalline in its perfection that it wraps
254. around and becomes its own kind of genius. The French have a word for something so ugly,
255. it becomes beautiful. The draft, we're going to jump to the phones in just a second.
256. There were people hanging online. I apologize. I'm just wrapping it up. My brain is just cooking right here.
257. The draft, for those of you who came of age in a more peaceful era, was actually last used on December 7th, 1972.
258. Yeah, that was the previous century in Vietnam.
259. It ended because the American public made it extremely clear through protest, through civil disobedience, through the sustained and righteous fury of a generation that didn't want to die in a jungle for reasons nobody could quite explain, that the whole business was, as Tommy Jefferson put it, the last of all oppressions.
260. And that was 54 years ago. And now in the age of AI targeting systems and trillion dollar surveillance contracts and wars that start trending on social media before Congress has finished reading the authorization.
261. A $350 billion defense tech company that pays no federal taxes would like to revisit the question.

264. What could possibly go wrong?
265. So pick up the phone, because here's where I stop being snide for about 45 seconds.
266. And I need you to stay with me, because this is the part that actually matters.
267. if you've worn the uniform, any branch, any era, any war we shouldn't have fought or any war we
268. probably should have ended sooner, I want to hear from you. Not because I want to put you on display
269. like some kind of patriotic prop. No, not so that I can thank you for your service in that weird,
270. guilty, drive-through window way that means absolutely nothing and costs even less.
271. I want to hear from you because you know things the rest of us don't. You know what it smells like
272. when the rhetoric stops being rhetoric. And I'm going to jump to the YouTube comments in a second.
273. It's just they're tiny. I have to like blow up the screen a little bit.
274. You know the difference between a manifesto written by a man with a ponytail and a philosophy
275. degree and what actually happens to a human body when Palantir's AI, artificial intelligence,
276. decides it's a target. A body is a target. You've seen the machine from the inside. You know which
277. gears grind people up and which ones the contractors never have to touch. And if you got
278. drafted, Vietnam, Korea, it doesn't matter. I especially want to hear your voice on the files
279. today because right now there are 18 year old kids in this country, some streaming,
280. some listening on the stream who don't even know what that word means yet.
281. draft. They think it's a beer or a fantasy football thing, a draft. They don't know about
282. the lottery. They don't know about the number. They don't know what it's like to open a letter
283. and have the government tell you, not ask you, tell you that your body now belongs to a foreign
284. policy decision you had absolutely no vote on, cooked up by people who will never ever be in
285. the same zip code as the incoming fire. Tell them. Tell us. Because Alex Karp isn't going to tell
286. them. Alex Karp's going to sell the targeting software and collect the contract and write the
287. next chapter of his book from somewhere very comfortable and very safe. And if you've got a
288. kid who's 18 or 19, 22, whatever years old right now, a son, a nephew, a neighbor's boy who just
289. graduated and is trying to figure out what comes next, if you're sitting there watching the
290. Selective Service build its automatic registration database right now as we speak, while we spent
291. many weeks in a shooting war in Iran and something in your gut is doing that thing that guts do

302. started circulating and they circulated calmly and confidently and they argued that democracy
303. was obsolete. Democracy wasn't corrupt. It wasn't misguided. It was obsolete. That the world,
304. and this is according to this YouTube video, had become too complex. It had become too fast,
305. too dangerous for consent. And what nations needed instead was order, national coordination,
306. Elite planning
307. And discipline without debate
308. And they even gave it a name
309. Which some of you of a certain age
310. Or if you have a historic bent
311. Or even a little bit of education
312. This is going to ping your radar
313. The name they gave it was
314. American National Socialism
315. Not socialism for workers
316. Not equality
317. socialism for order yeah this is socialism sort of soviet flavored sort of germany flavored
318. german war flavored but with a very modern twist and these weren't fringe youtube screamers they
319. were hours long presentations with neutral lighting academic tone and managerial ambition
320. and they treated politics as an engineering problem and citizens as variables.
321. Democracy was reframed as noise.
322. Well it kind of is It noisy This side wants an apple this side wants an orange And then somewhere in the middle you end up with a kumquat which is what we have in the White House right now
323. Rights were viewed as inefficiencies, participation as sentimental clutter. And the solution,
324. according to them, was always the same. Central coordination, insulated from the public,
325. and justified by ready crisis whatever happens put crisis in the middle and you can justify
326. absolutely anything just know these weren't single videos or a lone crank they were
327. networked ideology they were done by thinkers by funders by podcasters by policy lobbyists
328. cross-posting, cross-referencing, and always refining the pitch.
329. And I've shared with you before that I worked at home shopping once upon a time.
330. I know, you promised not to tell anyone.
331. But all we ever did was refine the pitch.
332. Did you refine the pitch?
333. I mean, it was horrific, but it worked.
334. So in these videos, over time, the arguments hardened.
335. the language got cleaned up and the destination stayed fixed that democracy was messy and
336. inefficient that people were just too stupid to be able to self-guide hey it's like the monroe
337. doctrine isn't it that brown people are just too stupid to be able to govern all of their own
338. individual sovereign countries in latin america so we're just going to come in and manage it
339. by the way we're going to manage their oil and minerals and maybe colonize them while they're
340. at it, Monroe Doctrine. Same thinking, but for here at home. And these videos became the template
341. of the rehearsal space where ideas that were too naked for policy became normalized, softened,
342. stress test. And by the time similar language showed up in politics, which it has, finance and
343. tech and the public had already heard it. And we were used to it. The shock was gone. The surrender
344. was already rehearsed. So when you hear calls for coordination, stability, capacity, and hard
345. choices, understand that you're hearing YouTube ideas that are now grown up and dressed for work
346. and walking right into power. And that's the origin story of how we got to where we are today.

380. The file closes not with justice, but with administrative relief. Not that nothing happened,
381. but nothing actionable will happen. That distinction is everything. Not that nothing

383. right now so that you don't think well why aren't they following the law why aren't they because

402. because the system had already decided who mattered. Now, you're not ignorant. You've known

424. but it helps. It began with order, with classification, with the belief that society

434. it has a new and respectable name technocracy same thing technocracy claims that politics
435. are engineering problems that society should be run by experts insulated from the public
436. insulated from the public and here you thought your representatives are an extension of you
437. And here you thought and here you thought. And those outcomes matter more than consent. Democracy in this frame isn't immoral. It's inefficient. Democracy is too loud. It's too slow. It's fussy. It's too emotional for this complex world.

477. just to bring us all up to speed on exactly where we are today.

480. But first, friends, this is a sad time for true Christians everywhere.
481. Just when we were convinced the end times are finally upon us,
482. God in his infinite wisdom And wrath has once again signaled that we will have to wait even longer for the day when we can join him and his son in heaven crystal palace This is truly a sad time indeed The deep state is clearly a tool of the devil and Satan has won yet again
483. Our confidence that the rapture was right around the corner arose when God's own party, GOP, dominated.
484. Dominated the last elections.
485. And despite the fact that heathen Kamala Harris won nearly as many votes nationwide as our golden-haired prophet,
486. God made sure Mr. Trump was elected.
487. He started by ensuring that the colored folks and the boat people in the swing states
488. who care only about pronouns and free insulin were sufficiently confused by the ballot process.
489. When that wasn't enough, he intervened further and had the Electoral College do exactly what the founders intended, deliver us from competence.
490. And even though God had a momentary lapse and let the Senate threaten us with women in pantsuits,
491. he ensured that any resistance would crumble by giving us Vice President J.D. Vance,
492. a man whose ideological journey from Yale-educated critic to golden retriever
493. is more miraculous than the loaves and the fishes.
494. We understandably believed God put our Republicans in command
495. because he wanted the end times to begin.
496. And our godly Republicans increased our confidence
497. by immediately setting about to make the book of Revelation come true,
498. mostly through press conferences.
499. From the Apostle John, we know the end times will occur.
500. When the earth will be plagued with fires, earthquakes, plagues, the destruction of plant, animal, and human life,
501. and the dominance of creatures like locusts and other destructive bugs,
502. those do-gooder Democrats want to take our money and tax our corporations so they can make the environment fit for future generations,
503. when us true Christians and Republicans know there aren't going to be many future generations to come.
504. Why waste money on a pipe dream of a clean world when the rapture's on the calendar?

506. Godly Republicans sought to let us enjoy every second of what little time we have left
507. by pushing to slash taxes for those with enough money to notice it,
508. slapping tariffs on everything including the air we breathe,
509. and running the deficit up to numbers so large
510. they've transcended mathematics and entered theology.

517. What better way to ensure we enjoy these last few years than by mandating more use of oil more use of coal more use of natural gas and diesel
518. cheap energy, God's energy, in place of squandering our treasure on wind farms and solar panels,
519. the benefits of which wouldn't be realized until after the planet is long gone away.
520. And what better way to facilitate the apocalypse described in Revelation
521. than by gutting the EPA so thoroughly that those giant horse-like locusts
522. with lion's teeth and scorpion's tails that God has promised
523. will practically build themselves.
524. That's Revelation 9, 7 to 10.
525. What better way to get rid of the excess animals
526. so that only billionaires and scavenger birds remain?
527. That's Revelation 19, 7 to 18.
528. What better way than to open wildlife sanctuaries to development
529. and rename them Opportunity Zones?
530. Indeed, we Republicans know the truth.
531. Rather than trying to save this planet, we should face and facilitate the inevitable.
532. Defund every one who suggests otherwise.
533. Spark conflicts in the Middle East and let those folks sort it out with whatever ordinance we sold them last quarter.
534. Withdraw from every multinational, multilateral agreement
535. so that each nation may pursue its own personal apocalypse on its own personal timeline.
536. The bottom line is this.
537. God's time.
538. Not the time for fact-checkers or the World Health Organization.
539. But you know, friends, something went wrong.
540. The polls turned. The approval ratings cratered. The man who was supposed to usher in revelation started feuding with Canadian trade ministers and posting at 2 a.m. about crowd sizes.
541. The chosen vessel began to seem less like a prophet
542. and more like a man who has lost the thread entirely.
543. A man deep in the wilderness, not of spiritual trial,
544. but of his own grievance loop,
545. unable to find the plot he wandered away from three press conferences ago.
546. True Christians everywhere had better unpack their bags and clean their weapons
547. for it looks as though the world is going to be here a while longer
548. and our champion may have misplaced both the script and his reading glasses.
